I’m obviously trying to save more money in 2018, but sometimes there are things worth spending a little money on. I was inspired by a post on Reddit to share some of my favorite things I bought this year.
My new car. In January we traded in my old car for a new one. I had had my old one for a long time, and I hated to let it go because (1) I loved it, and (2) it was paid for! I really didn’t want to have another car payment, but it was time to move on. I literally thought the wheels were going to fall off that car. The one I had was pretty old, so stuff that’s pretty standard now (like a backup camera) seemed pretty fancy to me! The best thing about the new car, though, is that I don’t feel like I’m going to break down on the side of the road with two small children in the back! I didn’t want that car payment, but it’s worth it to me!
My Instant Pot. I got an Instant Pot back in about February or March, but I was too intimidated to use it for a long time. I joined lots of Facebook groups and found lots of recipes but I was still too nervous to use it! A friend of mine told me about the time she used a pressure cooker and her chicken basically exploded all over her kitchen so I had visions in my head of that happening to me! (And we had our house on the market at the time so I just knew something like that would happen right before we had a showing!) I finally used it for some simple recipes and I love it! The girls really love the spaghetti I make in it. I have plans to use it even more next year, and maybe I’ll get brave enough to try something a little more complicated!
My new vacuum cleaner. (This isn’t the exact one but it looks like they don’t have mine right now) I got a Dyson Animal on Prime Day and now I’m one of those girls who goes around telling everybody how much she loves her vacuum cleaner. It’s so lightweight and easy to store, and it picks up EVERYTHING! I had planned on putting the old vacuum cleaner upstairs and keeping this one downstairs, but it’s so light and convenient without a cord that I decided I would just carry this one up the stairs every time. Emily loves to use it, too. Let’s just hope she keeps her love of vacuuming as she grows up!
Our new house. We moved back in July. We bought our old house back when it was just me and Lee and the dogs. The house was good to us, but we outgrew it once we had the girls. Our new house has more space for all of us, and a big backyard for the girls to play. Our mortgage has gone up a bit, but it’s worth it to us for what we believe is going to be our “forever home.”
My FabFitFun Subscription. I subscribed to this box back in the fall, and I’m so glad I did. I get another subscription box that I think I’m going to cancel (you know, that whole saving money thing) and just get this one. This one’s a little pricier than some of the other subscription boxes, but it only comes once a quarter so I don’t feel quite so bad about spending the money. You get a ton of stuff in the box, and you can choose some of your items each quarter depending on which subscription you get. And if there are things you don’t want for yourself, almost all the items make good gifts!
Once you subscribe you also get access to their workouts! I’m going to start doing these on days I don’t get to go to the gym, or if I’m really feeling like somebody and want to get two workouts in on the same day (but let’s be honest…don’t really see that happening!) You can use my referral link here to get $10 off your first box if you’re interested!
