Well hey there, 2018! Good to see ya. 2017 was a good year, and I’m excited to see what this year brings. I never really set New Year’s Resolutions until a few years ago, but the older I get the more I like to reflect on the last year and see how I can make the next year even better. I’ve got four big goals for 2018:
Save enough money to afford private school tuition.
We live in a relatively small town, so private school is not as costly here as it is in many places, but it definitely isn’t free. This year I want to see if we can save enough money for a year of private school tuition.
Use my Silhouette more.
I got a Silhouette Cameo for my birthday several years ago. I’ve used it for a few small projects, but I didn’t have much space for it in our old house so it stayed hidden away in the closet. Getting it out and putting away again became a whole thing to me, so I just didn’t use it much at all. Now that we’re in our new house I have a little more space for it, and for Christmas I got a storage cart that it sits on perfectly. So now I don’t have the excuse of not wanting to get it out!
We have a Christmas craft fair/vendor event every year here, and while I was there this year I decided I could make a lot of the stuff I was seeing myself if I had a heat press, so I asked for one for Christmas. I’m hoping that now that I have a heat press AND space for my machine I’ll be motivated to actually use it!
I’m also hoping using my Silhouette will help me save a little money by making cute shirts for the girls myself instead of buying them. I’m hoping I can make SG a cute shirt for her birthday in February, and some cute Valentine’s Day shirts for both girls!
Try two new recipes in my Instant Pot every month.
I mentioned previously that I FINALLY started using my Instant Pot a few months after I got it. I’ve found a few really good recipes, but I want to start using it even more this year. I originally thought I wanted to try a new IP recipe every week, but that seemed a little daunting. I think twice a month is a little more manageable.
I’ve been saving recipes on Pinterest but I’m always looking for more. Does anybody have any good (easy) IP recipes you’d like to share?
Be in more pictures.
This is probably my biggest goal for the year.
I’m pretty good at taking lots of pictures, but I’m rarely in any pictures. Part of it is because I’m always the one taking the picture, but another, bigger, part of it is that I just don’t like the way I look in them. I look fat, that shirt looks terrible on me, my hair looks bad…you get it…that’s how I feel about probably 90% of the pictures I see of myself.
This year I want to get over that. I’ll probably never be completely happy with my body, but you know what? My body made two absolutely beautiful girls who think I’m pretty okay. One day they might want to see some pictures of me with them, or one day I might want to see some pictures of me with them. Or I might want to see some pictures of me with my husband.
I would like to lose some weight, but I’m going to stop waiting for that to happen to allow myself to be in some pictures (and actually post them where people might see them!) To prove I’m serious, here’s the last picture taken of me and SG (the only reason I have this is because I was taking a picture of her and a nice lady asked if I wanted her to take one of us):
There are so many things I don’t like about myself in this picture, but SG is adorable and we were having a blast! I’m so thankful that nice lady for taking this picture because I wouldn’t have one otherwise.
So there you have it, my goals for this year. What are your goals for 2018?
