My brother- and sister-in-law gave the girls a Kiwi Crate subscription for Christmas. I had read about Kiwi Crate a few weeks before, so I was really excited when I found out that was what they had gotten them!
Emily got the Koala Crate for kids ages 3-4, and hers came just a couple of days after Christmas. She was really bummed when she found out the doorbell only rang because the mail was here (she gets really excited if she thinks somebody is coming to visit!), but she perked up when she realized the mail was for her. I told her the box was for her and she got to make something fun, and she was beyond excited! I tried to get her to wait for a little while before we opened it up and got started but she was NOT HAVING IT!
This box’s focus was music. It had everything we need to make a xylophone, a tambourine, and a dancing streamer! It also came with a guide for the parent/adult (not gonna lie, I had to read it a couple of times to get the rubber bands right on the xylophone!) as well as a magazine for the kids that includes stories, puzzles, and informational material. It came with the Puff the Magic Dragon board book, too!
I told Emily that on the first day we would just make one instrument, and she chose to make the xylophone. She got to use the stamps on small pieces of wood and build the xylophone using the box pictured above and rubber bands. (She needed a bit of help with that process)
She loved being a little musician and playing the xylophone for us once she was finished!
(The box also came with a strip for her to compose her own music using the stamps, but we haven’t done that part yet.)
A couple of days later Emily made the tambourine that came in the box.
I showed her how to string the first bell, and she did the rest all by herself! She was so proud!
The dancing streamer was lots of fun to make, too. Emily is loving stamps right now, so she really had a blast decorating it!
I loved this box! This is one of my favorite presents the girls got the year! I’m looking forward to Sarah Grace’s coming in the mail soon. If it’s as good as Emily’s box I think I’ll keep the subscription up when the gift subscription expires. And I’ll definitely be looking for deals on these boxes to give the other kids in my family!
