Happy Friday! I think we’re finally on the other side of the sickness that overtook our house last week. It wasn’t the flu, but it was rough! I’m linking up with Momfessionals today to share some of my favorite moments from this week.
Alabama won the National Championship Monday night! During my time at Alabama we couldn’t even beat Auburn (our main rival), much less even COMPETE for a national title. A few weeks after I graduated Nick Saban became our head coach. Since then we’ve won five national championships!
The game Monday was CRAZY. Things weren’t looking good at halftime, and I had pretty much accepted we were going to lose. After halftime the coaches pulled our starting quarterback (who had a 26-2 record and led us to the national championship last year) and put in a true freshman quarterback. We ended up winning the game in overtime.
Even if you’re not a football fan, there were so many sweet moments after the game. It’s Friday now and I still get emotional thinking about some of the things I saw after the game:
- Our starting quarterback (the one who got benched in the second half) is a fantastic teammate and role model for kids. He was the first one to celebrate with the backup quarterback after he threw his first touchdown pass, and I think he won several more fans with his classy interview after the game. This is a nice little article about it. Whether you’re an Alabama fan or not, both of our quarterbacks are worth cheering for.
- Our Center proposed to his girlfriend after the game! Spoiler Alert: She said yes!
- The Ridley Brothers swapped jerseys. Calvin is an Alabama receiver and his little brother Riley is a Georgia receiver. Riley had a great game for Georgia, and Calvin had a HUGE touchdown catch for Alabama. They found each other after the game and swapped jerseys. Read the article and watch the video. I’m not crying. You’re crying.
I’ve never been so emotional about a football game before. The older I get the more I realize that these guys are KIDS, and I can’t imagine the pressure they must feel playing in games like this.
In non-football-related events, I got some new stickers for my Happy Planners! I got a Memory Planner for Christmas and I’m really trying to keep up with it this year. I did the spread for last week and realized I REALLY needed some stickers. I’m excited to do this week’s spread with them! I got some for my regular planner too. I had coupons so I got both books for 50% off!
And yesterday I found out there are new Memory Planners and sticker books coming out in March! I’m so excited!
Emily had a follow-up with her ENT yesterday and I took both girls. In the past I’ve just taken Emily because I could take SG to daycare, but since they’re not in daycare anymore she came along with us. I was a little nervous about how they would act in the waiting room since it’s not strictly a kids’ ENT, but they were so well-behaved! They went right in and started playing with their Barbie dolls. The ladies at the desk seemed to enjoy watching them play 🙂
Sarah Grace threw a fit when I went to change her out of her pajamas and kept saying she wanted to keep her “jacket” on, so…
…this was her ensemble. I put her “jacket” on over her clothes. I pick my battles, y’all.
When Em got her temperature taken SG was saying, “My turn next!” So the nice nurse humored her!
I hope everybody has a great weekend! It’s been warmer here the past couple of days, but it’s supposed to get pretty frigid here (by our standards anyway) again this weekend.
